Gary Zola is the editor of the
American Jewish Archives Journal, this year’s winner of the James P. Barry Award for Editorial Excellence.
The journal is published by the Jacob Rader Marcus Center of the American Jewish Archives in Cincinnati.
Zola succeeded his mentor and founding director Jacob Rader Marcus as director of the archives and editor of the journal in 1995.
Zola, a highly regarded expert on the development of American Reform Judaism, is the author of one book,
Isaac Harby of Charleston and the editor of five other books on Jewish history and culture.
