Kathy Fagan of Worthington, Ohio
Kathy Fagan is being honored this year
for her numerous contributions to the field of poetry. The author of four collections,
Dr. Fagan has been the recipient of the Paumanok Poetry Award, the Pushcart Prize for Poetry, the
Vassar Miller Prize for Poetry, and grants or fellowships from the Ohio Arts Council, the MacDowell Colony, Yaddo,
Bread Loaf, and the Ingram Merrill Foundation.
Dr. Fagan earned her B.A. from California State University, her M.F.A. from Columbia University, and her Ph.D. from the University of Utah.
Born in New York City, she moved to Ohio in 1989 to begin teaching in the Creative Writing Program at Ohio State University.
In 2004, Fagan also receive the Ohioana Award for Editorial Excellence as a co-editor of The Journal, the Ohio State University’s literary magazine
