Profiles of Ohio Women: 1803 – 2003
In 2003, Ohio Bicentennial’s Women’s Advisory Council in collaboration with the Ohioana Library Association commissioned
the book, Profiles of Ohio Women: 1803 – 2003. Ohioana is dedicated to encouraging and recognizing literary and other
creative accomplishments of Ohioans, including women, and to maintaining and preserving a permanent collection of books and music by and
about Ohioans. Profiles of Ohio, 1803-2003, was a project that fit well within this mission. It recognizes two hundred
remarkable Ohio women selected from a very large number of candidates who, through their contribution and achievements, have shaped
history both within and beyond the borders of Ohio.
